Hayley and Markie came out to visit us to celebrate Markie's 16th birthday and Hayley's graduation from high school. We had a blast. I'm posting all the pictures (as usual) on our Picasa web album (see link to the left), but here are a few highlights:
These are pictures from our wicked-awesome camp out at Big Basin Redwood forest/campground that's about 30 minutes from our house. Basically amazing.
For some reason we found this stump very entertaining. In all fairness, though, it was hovering over a gigantic lake filled with acid and man-eating alligators. You can't see it in the picture, but it's probably true.
The walrus is Markie.
After finishing our 11 mile hike through Big Basin Redwood forest.
My favorite thing was biking across the Golden Gate Bridge. It was supposedly 9 miles each way. I think it was maybe 9 miles round trip. But either way we are superwomen for doing it.
At Alcatraz. They almost didn't let us leave, since we sneaked on the ferry.
We visited the elusive and world-famous "Mystery Spot." Markie was standing straight up, and defying gravity seemed to stand at a 17 degree angle. Oooooooh.....mysterious.......
Markie's birthday "surprise" celebration. She was nice enough to pretend to be asleep while we decorated the room.
This one's for you, dad.
The famous Lombard street. Actually, the girls didn't know where we were until we were at the bottom.
We loved the Jelly Belly factory. Super far away, but the sugar high keeps you soaring all the way home.
This is at the boardwalk in Santa Cruz (thanks, Becca). We didn't know it was here until we happened upon it. The beach was stunning, and that awesome spider ride above was the one ride we chose to go on. Well worth the $4.50 each.

cool, thanks for moving up there and finding all the amazing places to go.... i didn't know you found the garden of eden... look at those photos... i'm sure there were trees that big in the garden...
Is the boardwalk in San Jose or Santa Cruz? Looks like a lot of FUN!
And thanks for hanging out with us Saturday and paying for our balls and giving me a ride home to get the keys.
I can't wait to see your next adventures in the second half of your summer.
Wait, wait, wait. You can't title your entry with a Clapton song, then include references to the Beatles. Clapton is god...the beatles were just revolutionaries. At least you didn't open with a Beatles tag and then subordinate Clapton to them.
Do you think Markie understood "The walrus is Markie" Beatle allusion or just took it as an insult?
